was world premiere in Haugesund or in Toronto?

[edit]

Multiple sources say that the World Premiere of Mother of Mine was at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2005 ([1], [2]). I traced that claim back to this official press release where TIFF claims Mother of Mine as a world premiere. However, the review in Variety [3] states "Reviewed at Haugesund Film Festival, Norway, Aug. 20, 2005". The official press kit [4] from FilmMovement also describes the film as an official selection at the "New Norwegian Film Festival Haugesund 2005". I am thinking that, contrary to what the press kit says, Mother of Mine was not truly an official selection at the 2005 Norwegian International Film Festival but rather was included in the "New Nordic Films Market" ([5]) that is under the auspices of the The Norwegian International Film Festival Haugesund. If it screened in that "Market" in 2005, as opposed to a regular screening at the festival, then maybe Toronto was justified in claiming it as a world premiere?
